Examples of Completed Contracts

1. Developed a Training Course for the South Florida Water Management Model. Work included development of a course outline, preparation of all class materials, overview of the water management facilities in South Florida, live demonstrations working with the 2x2, and class homework assignments. Conducted two training sessions for the modelers hired for the Interagency Modeling Center. The work was contracted via the South Florida Water Management District for the Interagency Modeling Center.

2. Evaluated the suitability of the OSLOW model, which was based OASIS, for the Lake Okeechobee Watershed Study. The evaluation included modeling assumptions, model structure, model output, and adequacy of performance measure predictions. Model output was compared to output from a similar run of the 2x2 model. The work was conducted for the Interagency Modeling Center.

3. Helped prepare the latest documentation for the South Florida Water Management Model (v5.5). Work included writing original text, development of some figures, inclusion of other documents and graphics, and preparation of a self-executing CD containing the PDF version of the document. The documentation effort included a peer review of the model by several professors/professionals. The work was conducted for the South Florida Water Management District.

4. Reviewed the application of the MIKESHE model developed by the Danish Hydrologic Instituted of Denmark. The groundwater/surface water model was used to evaluate the hydrologic characteristics of Broward. The work was done as a subcontracted effort with a non-government engineering firm.

5. Developed four STELLA models that are being used for Alternative Development for the Southwest Florida Feasibility Study (SWFFS). The basins included: C-43 Canal above S-79; the C-43 estuary below S-79; basin; and the Big Cypress Basin Engineers, Jacksonville District.

6. Provided expert witness testimony in a case involving the Rockmining Permits issued by the Corps of Engineers. Testimony was provided by Dr. Punnett before Judge Hoeveler in the Miami U.S. District Court.

Example of Ongoing Contract

Since 2003, HRI has been contracted, part-time, for Modeling Support Activities with the US Army, Corps of Engineers. HRI conducts and coordinates modeling activities between the Jacksonville Office and other state and federal agencies.
